  • Friends fans have been anxiously awaiting a reunion episode since the comedy series ended nearly ten years ago.

Rumors that a reunion episode was in the works has been squashed on more than one occasion, but Courteney Cox, who played Monica Geller on the show, is finally putting the rumors to rest and saying that it is simply “not going to happen.”

On Monday night’s episode of the Late Show with David Letterman, Cox made an appearance and addressed the speculation. “It’s not gonna happen,” the Cougar Town actress said.

She revealed that she can’t even get her former co-stars (Lisa Kudrow, Jennifer Aniston, Mathew Perry, Matt LeBlanc, and David Schwimmer) together for dinner, let alone another episode.

“There’s six friends and I have been trying to put together a cast dinner for 10 years,” Cox explained to Letterman. “It doesn’t happen. I mean, I can get the girls to come, maybe Matthew Perry. Matt LeBlanc canceled last time right at the last minute, [David] Schwimmer lives [in New York City], so it’s just not going to happen.”

Last year, Friends co-creator Marta Kaufman gave the same answer when asked if there was going to be a reunion project. “I’m going to clear this up — it’s not happening.” Kaufman said. “Friends was about that time in your life when your friends are your family and once you have a family, there’s no need anymore.”

Needless to say, for all of you who have been holding out hope that the Friends were going to be getting back together, it looks like it is just not going to happen.
