Christina Applegate found out first hand that you have to learn when to plead the fifth and when not to.

The 43-year-old is on the promo circuit for her latest film Vacation and recently dropped by Watch What Happens Live! where she participated in Andy Cohen’s infamous Plead The Fifth game.

Cohen asks his guests several personal questions during the course of the game, with guests only getting one chance to “plead the fifth” and not answer the question.

But Applegate was quick to use her one plea, an action she ended up regretting when Cohen’s next question turned out to be the infamous date she had with Brad Pitt in 1989.

According to Hollywood rumors, the then 18-year-old Christina Applegate attended the MTV Movie Awards with Pitt, but ditched him mid-date for a mystery man.

Cohen attempted to put an end to the 26-year-old rumor by directly asking Applegate who the mystery man was. “The question is, who was the guy you ditched Brad Pitt for?” the Bravo host asked.

Applegate was obviously taken aback by the question and hemmed and hawed before asking “How many fifths do I get?”

The Married with Children actress then jokingly said that “I don’t have to do nothin’.”

Applegate remained mum on the identity of the mystery man, but Cohen was able to get her to more or less admit that the man wasn’t an actor but that he was quite known to the public.

The former child star also revealed that she and the mystery man didn’t end up dating nor did she go out on another date with Pitt.

The 47-year-old Cohen also didn’t get much out of Applegate on his second question, which she pleaded the fifth to. The TV personality asked Christina Applegate which of the stars she has worked with had the biggest bulge and she wisely demurred, although based on the Vacation trailer, no one would be surprised if she mentioned Chris Hemsworth.
