  • Coldplay frontman Chris Martin is reportedly devastated over his split from wife of ten years, Gwyneth Paltrow. In a joint statement posted on Paltrow’s website Goop the two announced a “conscious uncoupling” on March 24th, after traversing years of marital problems.

A source told Hollywoodlife that Martin is “devastated,” and that “He suggested counseling, he even suggested they move back to London but ultimately that just didn’t work out for them.”

Martin, 37, and Paltrow, 41, met in 2002 while Coldplay was touring, and were married in 2003, after she got pregnant. The couple has two children, Apple, 9, and Moses, 7. A source added, “Now they’ll have to figure out custody because he loves those kids more than anything. He’s (Martin) very hurt.”

Martin suffers from being accessibly emotional, as seen here in Coldplay’s “Every Teardrop is a Waterfall”:

Coldplay’s new breakup track entitled “Magic,” set to appear on “Ghost Stories,” set to be released on may 19th:

Here is the full text of the “conscious uncoupling” Martin and Paltrow announced on her site:

It is with hearts full of sadness that we have decided to separate. We have been working hard for well over a year, some of it together, some of it separated, to see what might have been possible between us, and we have come to the conclusion that while we love each other very much we will remain separate. We are, however, and always will be a family, and in many ways we are closer than we have ever been. We are parents first and foremost, to two incredibly wonderful children and we ask for their and our space and privacy to be respected at this difficult time. We have always conducted our relationship privately, and we hope that as we consciously uncouple and co-parent, we will be able to continue in the same manner.

    Love,
    Gwyneth & Chris
