Chris Brown’s assault trial has been put on hold after his bodyguard was found guilty in his own assault case. The bodyguard, Chris Hollosy, was to testify at Brown’s trial, and his conviction has caused some setbacks for Brown’s attorneys and the trial.

Parker Adams was injured after an argument with Brown and his bodyguard. Adams was taking photos of Brown when Brown asked him to stop. Adams refused and Brown took his camera and allegedly punched him. A witness claimed that the bodyguard pulled Brown away and punched Adams as well.

Brown’s attorneys say that Brown was not involved in the fight and that his bodyguard only punched the man to protect Brown and himself.

“He won’t be a witness now, potentially,” Brown’s attorney Mark Geragos said.

“I’d rather have him than not have him, but I don’t want Chris to languish in jail while we wait for him. We’re confident that if all the evidence gets before the judge, Chris will be acquitted,” Geragos continued. “Chris did not hit this guy. And if Hollosy did, it was for the defense of others.”

Brown’s trial was scheduled to begin just minutes after his bodyguard’s was over. Brown’s attorneys depended on Hollosy’s admission of throwing a punch that broke the man’s nose, to prove that Brown was innocent. Since Hollosy is Brown’s bodyguard, he could have been justified in his actions if he felt them necessary to protect Brown or anyone else.

Brown’s attorneys say that Brown was not involved in the fight and that his bodyguard only punched the man to protect Brown and himself.

Brown is currently in jail in California, where he was sent after being told to leave rehab. Brown allegedly made threats to employees and patients at the rehab facility and was taken into custody after being told to leave. He will stay in jail until his trial and if convicted, could stay be sent back.

Fans were unhappy with the trial delay and tweeted their support for the singer.
