Charlize Theron may indeed be close to marrying boyfriend Sean Penn, but reports claiming that the actor filed papers to adopt her three-year-old son Jackson, are false, according to People magazine.

Charlize Theron adopted her son when he was an infant from her home country of South Africa in 2012, and it's been well-documented that Sean Penn, 53, is close to the toddler.

"Charlize and Sean are very serious," a source told People magazine. "Charlize says this is it. Jackson already calls Sean 'daddy.' This is the first step toward them getting married."

"Sean always knew that to truly earn a place in Charlize's heart, connecting with Jackson was one of the most important parts," a source added to Us Weekly. "There is still talk of adopting again and giving Jackson a brother or a sister."

Dating since January 2014, Charlize Theron and Sean Penn do reportedly plan to marry someday and would love to adopt another child in South Africa.

Previously married to Robin Wright from 1996 to 2010, Sean Penn and the 48-year-old actress have two children, 23-year-old daughter Dylan Frances and 21-year-old son Hopper Jack.

Sean Penn is set to direct Charlize Theron and actor Javier Bardem in the romantic drama The Last Face.
