If the rumors concerning Selma Blair and her role on FX’s Anger Management turn to fact, the actress’ relationship with Charlie Sheen has deteriorated well beyond the feud stage. A report at TMZ indicates the two are “at WAR (their capitalization, not mine)” and, in fact, Blair may be out of a job. At least if Sheen has his winning way. With that in mind, allow me to get this out of the way: so much for Sheen (and Blair) managing their anger, right? Bad jokes aside, it appears as if Sheen has a hard time getting along with, well, anyone for long periods of time.

Granted, in this case, it appears as if Blair started the mess by saying Sheen was “a menace to work with,” and that the actor has poor work habits. The report indicates she told this to the executive team behind the series, and, as is the Hollywood way, word got back to Sheen, which lead to the following predictable reaction from the actor:

But sources close to Sheen tell us the actor did more than just complain … he told everyone HE FIRED SELMA altogether — although it’s unclear how official it was.

Charlie then made it clear to “AM” honchos … if Selma shows up to set Monday — when the show is scheduled to shoot — he’ll refuse to work.

TMZ goes onto say that their sources indicate the bosses at FX are hoping this goes away. Oddly enough, the news about the Blair/Sheen blow up comes just six days after the actress posted the following on Twitter:

Thanks for a great day back @charliesheen . You looked pretty darn handsome.

— Selma Blair (@SelmaBlair) June 11, 2013

I suppose it’s worth noting that Sheen did not respond to Blair’s tweet, and if the news of this fallout is true, it’s doubtful he will anytime soon. Whatever the case, I hope someone tell him to stop hitting the “Return” key when he wants to make a new line in a tweet. Twitter’s word wrap works quite effectively. An example:

don't forget
MONDAY NIGHT
ON FOX!!
9:30 pm!
Anger Management!!
come one come all!
I'm counting on you
America!
c
http://t.co/edF2hBkpsB

— Charlie Sheen (@charliesheen) June 10, 2013

The film has Seth Rogen, James Franco and a bunch of other celebrities playing themselves as the apocalypse erupts around them. Like Mars Attacks, it seems like one big excuse for Rogen to kill off a bunch of celebrities on film. Unlike Mars Attacks, the film may actually make some money.

To decide for yourself, check out this 22-minute behind the scenes B-roll of This Is The End. It’s a fascinating look at Rogen in his directorial debut. If you’re a fan of comedies, Rogen and the film making process, you should check it out:

A 35-year-old man walked into an Ogden, Utah church on Sunday and shot his father-in-law in the back of the head.

According to the Ogden Police Department, Charles Richard Jennings, Jr. has been arrested for the attack, which took place during a Sunday mass at St. James Catholic Church in Ogden. After firing on the victim, Jennings stole a truck, but ran out of gas trying to escape on I-84. He was arrested there without incident. He has been charged with attempted aggravated criminal homicide and aggravated robbery.

The victim was taken to a nearby hospital, and is in critical, yet stable, condition. No other parishoners were hurt during the shooting, though the Associated Press has reported the single gunshot scared church-goers, who dove to the floor. Police do not believe the attack was a random act of violence, and believe it to be domestic violence-related.

Mad Men is almost at the end of its penultimate season. There’s only one episode left and fans are wondering what will happen.

In the past season, fans have been subjected to a number of major events that have left little to the imagination. We now know (spoilers ahead) that Bob Benson is gay (and might be a spy), Megan Draper is not dead, and that she won’t be dying anytime soon. So, what’s left for the finale? The thing is – nobody really knows.

The New York Times’ recently spoke about the new episode and said there’s “not one big plot point left to be resolved.” The Times’ Logan Hill does expect something surprising from the finale though. He says that he expects the engagement between Don and Megan in the season four finale will become undone in the season six finale.

Hill’s prediction may not happen, but the season finale will have to set up the seventh and final season of Mad Men. It has to be something that will make viewers want to tune in when the seventh season starts without revealing all the mysteries that will undoubtedly be revealed in season seven.

Fans took to Twitter to talk about Sunday’s episode and what they expect to see next Sunday:

Bob Benson's big reveal on #MadMen was pretty anticlimactic, to be honest. At least there's one episode left for him to come out as a spy.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office today unsealed two indictments charging nine 7-Eleven store owners and operators with wire fraud, steling identities, and concealing and harboring illegal immigrants.

The defendants are accused hiring “dozens” of illegal immigrants and giving them identities stolen from U.S. citizens. The illegal employees were allegedly housed in boarding houses owned by the defendants, and “substantial” portions of their wages were stolen.

“As set forth in the indictments, the defendants used 7-Eleven as a platform from which to run elaborate criminal enterprises,” said Loretta Lynch, U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of New York. “From their 7-Eleven stores, the defendants dispensed wire fraud and identity theft, along with Slurpees and hot dogs. In bedroom communities across Long Island and Virginia, the defendants not only systematically employed illegal immigrants, but concealed their crimes by raiding the cradle and the grave to steal the identities of children and even the dead. Finally, these defendants ruthlessly exploited their immigrant employees, stealing their wages and requiring them to live in unregulated boarding houses, in effect creating a modern day plantation system,”

14 7-Eleven stores in Long Island and Virginia have been seized in connection with the indictments. In addition five New York houses worth over $1.3 million have also been seized. The U.S. Department of Homeland Security has stated that this was the largest criminal immigration forfeiture in its history.

The defendants were arraigned today at court houses in Islip, New York and Norfolk, Virginia. If convicted, they each face up to 20 years in prison for wire fraud and harboring illegal immigrants, as well as consecutive two-year sentences for each count of aggravated identity theft.

“The 7-11 franchises seized today will be better known for their big fraud than their Big Gulp,” said James Hayes, special agent-in charge for the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations. “As alleged, the franchise owners knowingly and repeatedly employed an illegal workforce and abused and exploited that workforce for more than 13 years. This charged criminal scheme had a vast detrimental effect on both the employees who were overworked and cheated out of wages, as well as the more than 25 American citizens whose lives were upended by the theft of their identities in furtherance of the scheme.”

“Breaking Amish” is getting an all new cast for its second season, after finding success on TLC.

The first season of the show saw five young Amish people move to New York to test their luck outside the lives they’ve always known; this time around, the cast members will be moving to L.A.

“’Breaking Amish’ is about the challenges and opportunities anyone faces when at a crossroads in life -– deciding which path to take and finding your road to happiness. With an all-new cast and a different, vibrant city, ‘Breaking Amish: LA’ opens the door to these fascinating lives and the journeys they all embark on, as they explore this new world in search of who they want to be -– at the risk of everything they’ve ever had,” Amy Winter, General Manager of TLC, said in a statement.

The new cast includes:

Betsy: Amish, 21 years old, from Ohio. Adopted as a baby into an Amish household, she has tried living outside of the faith, but recently married an Amish man. Despite this, Betsy continues to struggle with being a member of the community, and hopes to come to peace with a decision.

Devon: Amish, 21, from Indiana. Living at home with his Amish parents, Devon remains conflicted about the Amish lifestyle. He remains unsure of his future and is interested in experiencing life with the English before making a final decision.

Iva: Amish, 19 years old, from Pennsylvania. Iva’s parents divorced when she was young, and her father left the community, though her mother remained. Iva explored life among the “English” but hasn’t been able to make it work and remains unsure of where she belongs.

Lizzie: Amish, 21 years old, from Pennsylvania. From a large Amish family, she tried to forge a life outside of the community, much to the disappointment of her parents. Lizzie’s harboring a secret that makes her want to set on a new life journey and hopes that this is her opportunity.

Matt: Mennonite, 24 years old, from Pennsylvania. Matt’s family joined the Mennonite faith when he was 7, changing his life forever. Two of his siblings have already left the community, and he wonders if exploring his interest in fashion design will set him on the same path.

The new cast members will decide after their West Coast adventure whether they want to continue to live among the English or if they want to go back home. In traditional Amish culture, young people are given a time to sow their wild oats and experience modern technology, partying, and all the other things American teens love during “Rumspringa”. They are given the choice after Rumspringa is over to continue down that path, but if they do, they are usually banished from their community.

“It’s just really hard to feel like you’re trapped in a box,” says Lizzie, 21. “No matter what you do, you can’t get out.”

A man reportedly stood up on his flight today and announced that everyone had been poisoned, and instead of diverting to a nearby airport, the New Jersey-bound plane continued on to Newark.

Details about an investigation haven’t come in yet, but FBI agents were reportedly going to meet the plane when it landed. United Airlines and investigators say there was no proof that anyone had indeed been poisoned, so the decision was made to let authorities handle the man on the ground; the plane was inbound from Tokyo. It’s not known what charges the man may face, whether or not anyone was harmed.

Last year, four separate Delta flights handed out turkey wraps to passengers that were spiked with needles, and two people were harmed. The supplier of the sandwiches, Gate Gourmet, was investigated at the time and at least one passenger said he wanted to press charges. The airline issued a statement, saying, “Delta is taking this matter extremely seriously and is cooperating with local and federal authorities who are investigating the incident. Delta has taken immediate action with our in-flight caterer at Amsterdam to ensure the safety and quality of the food we provide onboard our aircraft.”

Two weeks later, Air Canada confirmed that a sewing needle was found in one of their sandwiches, but said they didn’t use Gate Gourmet as their supplier. The incident led to all pre-packaged food being inspected before flights.

If ever there was an athlete made to fully embrace the six seconds of glory that is Vine, it would be social media maven/Olympic athlete, Lolo Jones. The prolific Twitter user has gone all in with the mini video application, something her recent Vine activity demonstrates quite well. Apart from embracing the quickly decreasing attention span of, well, everyone, Vine looks like it’s providing an evolution of sorts for what has surely become the favorite social media sharing/mobile phone camera activity, taking selfies.

In her latest video, however, Jones uses her “I take great selfies” ability to bring attention to the inequality of funding regarding Olympic athletes. Of course, Jones had to explain that position after posting the following video:

While Jones’ has since explained the reason for posting the video, when it first hit, people apparently took at as Jones acting like a spoiled athlete, while pointing out she, in fact, has money from previous endorsements. While that may be the case, it took Jones clarifying before it clicked:

“I don’t want to make anyone mad, and I’ve always wanted to help out the bobsled athletes,” Jones exclusively tells E! News. “Some of them have debt because they’ve given their life to the sport. My partner Jazmine [Fenlator] and I had to raise money for the bobsled to be funded just to finish the season, because only two of the three sleds are funded by the team… The Vine of the paycheck is just showing the difference between track and bobsled, and to be honest, bobsledders work more hours than track!”

Jones has played this angle up on Twitter as well:

RT @ilanared: Yes Lolo Jones Vine on bobsled $ got laughs, but for most athletes it's their life. … http://t.co/SLB2N3TTpX

— Lolo Jones (@lolojones) June 17, 2013

Perhaps Jones should use her influence and commercial appeal to bring about change to the funding imbalance. Furthermore, CelebrityNetWorth.org has the Olympian’s 2012 earnings at $1.5 million, and her endorsers include:

Her sponsors include ASICS, McDonald’s Corporation, Red Bull, Oakley, Procter & Gamble, Twinlab Corporation, BP, DISC Sports & Spine Center, and Kemin

Granted, I don’t know a great deal about Olympic training, and the fundraising involved, but it seems to me most of the companies listed in Jones’ stable of endorsers would be happy to be associated with such a cause, especially McDonald’s, which is always eager to paint itself in a positive light. Supporting an under-funded Olympian just seems like another solid PR move.

Madeleine McCann wasn’t quite four years old when she vanished from her family’s rented vacation home in Praia da Luz, Portugal, in 2007. Her parents said they were out at dinner while Madeleine slept with her siblings; when they returned, she was gone without a trace. Now, after a review by the Scotland Yard that took two years, they say they have formally reopened the case and are hoping to find something, anything, that will point them in the direction of what happened to little Madeleine.

The McCanns, Kate and Gerry, were considered prime suspects right after the disappearance but have since been cleared. The news of a new investigation comes on the heels of the shocking revelation in Cleveland earlier this year, when three women who have been missing for a decade were rescued from their captor’s home.

“The Home Office remains committed to supporting the search for Madeleine McCann. We have agreed to provide the Metropolitan Police with the resources they need to investigate her disappearance,” a Scotland Yard spokesman said in a statement.

The initial investigation, handled by Portuguese police, was widely criticized for not following through with potential leads. After the McCanns pleaded with UK officials to partner with them, it was decided that there is still enough evidence and “people of interest” that went overlooked to justify reopening–and funding–another look.

Madeleine would have been ten in May, and her parents released a digitally-enhanced photo showing what she may look like now, hoping that anyone with any clues to her whereabouts will come forward.

Arrested Development creator Mitch Hurwitz participated in a reddit AMA (ask me anything) this afternoon. Inevitably, the subject of the long-rumored Arrested Development movie came up.

First, before we look at what he had to say about that, let’s recall a recent interview Hurwitz recently did with TV Guide. Discussing the current season (season 4), he said, “There’s a lot in this show that not only refers to later episodes but that also refer to a future story. A lot of what we were doing was setting up a future for this world.”

When asked if that means another batch of episodes is to come, Hurwitz said, “It was important to me that I had a story behind this one that we built to. Whether that ever becomes a feature or a puppet show or a graphic novel or a needlepoint pattern, I’m not sure.”

The point is, he’s got some things in mind for where to take the story next, and that could be more show, a movie, or who knows? Netflix has recently indicated that it would like to do more, so it could very well be that we’ll see Arrested Development Season 5 appear on Netflix similar to the latest season.

Now, onto that reddit AMA. Hurwitz was asked: “Do you think that producing the new season as a prequel to the movie took away from its potential?” and “What can you tell us about the movie?”

His responses were as follows:

I’m going to try to interpret that question because it could mean a couple things. One version of that question is “Do I think it will hurt the chances that the movie will get made” – and I would say that I’m more interested in telling the ongoing saga of this family than working out a particular strategy for how to do it. I kind of feel like the form will emerge in a way that I wouldn’t have anticipated – like Netflix a few years ago – so it’s possible that a film studio says “There’s a lot of AD out there. Do we want to invest in more” or it’s possible that a film studio says “Wow, we had no idea there was this kind of a following.” And I think the latter scenario is possible. Just because I didn’t think there was that kind of a following! But if your question is “Does the story we’ve told detract from a movie”, I would say it definitely doesn’t, or wasn’t intended to – it was intended to set up (among other things) a murder-mystery and a family that really now has to come together to save one of their own at a moment when their tensions are the highest.

…

Well what we’re calling the movie is just the ongoing story – so at the moment, there is nothing really up with it, except that I am gathering up ammunition to try to get the next chapter made.

It’s clear that Hurwitz wants to continue to create more Arrested, regardless of what form it takes. Reviews of the current season have been mixed, but there is surely a big enough audience craving more Bluth family fun. Let’s not forget about this show’s history of turmoil, and its incredible journey back into the living room. As with season 4, no doubt getting the cast together will be the biggest challenge. A movie could be easier to pull off, but they made it work this time, so another season doesn’t seem out of the question.

Hurwitz also had this to say about the Netflix model:

…And one of the burdens that network television implicitly has – they’re not allowed to just respect the cleverest in their audience, they have to please everyone. And I think the Netflix model makes it a little more like publishing – there are different books for different people, and still within that world there are top 10 books that are blockbusters, and then there’s fiction that’s not for everybody.

…

Netflix was amazing. I’ve become very close to the people over there, and they are all really funny, so if they did have suggestions, they were generally pretty funny, great ones – particularly Ted Sarandos, who runs content for them. And they loved the ambition of the show, and encouraged it.

Update: He just answered another question about a fifth season, in which he said:

For the 5th season, it would DEFINITELY be about the family all together. That was always the design. The idea was originally to have them even together LESS for Season 4 – it really was going to be basically 9 stories (like the Salinger collection) that had nothing to do with one another, and just showed everybody’s life, so that everybody’s life could get to a point of peril, and then the family could truly have no choice but to get back together for the next iteration.
Let me put it back to you- which would YOU prefer? Movie or Season?

Update 2: He just opened up a bit more about where the story is going next:

It will definitely continue where we left off – and also, thank you for that because I think that episode is unlike the others in that it really shows a side of Lindsay we haven’t seen before, and it really takes the idea of her superficiality from being a joke to something she really struggles with, and in many ways I feel like it’s the most honest telling of the life of this family. But yes, we will definitely pick her up – she’s left running as a Republican for office, so she is going to play out some ancient high school agendas.
For Michael and George Michael – I think one of the things that is fun to do and also sometimes generates great material (and sometimes doesn’t) is to “paint yourself into a corner” when you’re writing or performing or doing anything creative. And it reminds me of cutting off Buster’s hand. It’s like, what do you do now? And the answer is – a LOT MORE than you’d do without it. So I wanted to get to an honest point in their relationship that was very uncomfortable, so that there wouldn’t be a pat solution, even for me.

Update 3: And a bit more (regarding Lucille Two falling down the stairs):

“That’s one of the abiding mysteries that Film Studios (or Netflix) will have to find valuable enough to discover to fund more of the show. And what’s YOUR theory? I’m truly curious.”
