Carrie Underwood Is Still Country’s It Girl

By: Rachel Kolman - April 13, 2014

It’s no secret that Carrie Underwood is county music’s glam icon. The 31-year-old American Idol alum is constantly at the top of the charts and winning awards, all while proving to be one of the industry’s top fashion and beauty icons. As we’ve previously reported, Carrie was 2013’s top earning American Idol winner, with her $31 million fortune even beating out former judges Mariah Carey and Micki Minaj.

In addition, Carrie’s Hit “Blown Away Medley” is still at No. 1 on Top 20 Country Countdown. And last week at the American County Music Awards, Carrie was honored with the Gene Weed Special Achievement Award, recognizing her “unprecedented, unique and outstanding individual achievement in country music.” She was even on hand at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction at the Barclay Center in Brooklyn on April 10th to help initiate Nirvana and KISS. Through all the whirlwind of award shows and events, Carrie maintains a sophisticated, Hollywood glam look.

Makes sense then that Carrie is the new face of Almay, which her makeup artist Melissa Scheicher uses to create what she calls Carrie’s “old Hollywood glamour” look. “I love anything that shines and makes her eyes pop,” Schleicher tells Us Weekly. She says Carrie’s go-to look is a dark, dramatic smoky eye with a soft pink lip, and hair that’s loose, curled, and full of body.

Carrie also works hard in the gym to make sure she’s always red carpet ready. Her trainer, Erin Oprea, tells E! News about working with Carrie. “Carrie is amazing to work with. We have a lot of fun. Carrie always brings it! She is a real person…I don’t think of her as a celebrity. We have a true working relationship that has developed into a friendship. She is hard worker, motivated and disciplined.” And it shows! Carrie’s a true Hollywood beauty icon.

Carrie is THE “It Girl” for sure. I want to know why she hasn’t won country female singer of the year for at least three years? Miranda Lambert has won five times in a row. Why? She can’t hold a candle to Carrie.
