Carrie Underwood made an announcement on the Today Show this morning--one fans were no doubt eagerly anticipating. The country music sweetheart--who is expecting her first baby with hubby Mike Fisher--said she will soon be releasing both a brand new single and a greatest hits album.

The former American Idol winner said the song, "Something in the Water," will be part of her upcoming greatest hits album.

"It's really kind of a joyous, uplifting song about changing your life for the better and kind of having that 'a-ha' moment, to waking up and your life being different from that moment forward," she said.

"Something in the Water" is set to release on Monday.

It wasn't so long ago that Carrie Underwood announced her pregnancy to her fans and to the world. She made that announcement via Twitter.

The country singer noted that she has an exceptional role model for her foray into motherhood.

“I have a wonderful mother, so if I can be even a little bit like that, I think we’ll be good,” she said.

Carrie Underwood will perform Saturday in Central Park at the Global Citizen Festival. She'll be in good musical company as she sings alongside Jay-Z, The Roots, Sting, and No Doubt. The event is part of an effort by the Global Poverty Project to end extreme poverty by 2030. It is also actively seeking more volunteers to work with them.

“They’re so many causes; you can find something that you’re really passionate about,” Underwood said during her Today Show interview Friday morning.

If you're not in New York or able to get there to see Carrie Underwood perform live on Saturday, at least you now know you can download her new single, "Something in the Water" on Monday. Her greatest hits album comes out in December.
