  • Caroline Wozniacki is the face of several endorsement deals–nearly a dozen, including Rolex and Stella McCartney for Adidas–and is on Forbes’ list of the highest paid tennis players in the world, but she says she really isn’t too interested in the money. In fact, she made headlines this week when it was reported that she left the U.S. Open without her $1.45 million check.

The 24-year old athlete reportedly took off back to Manhattan after accepting her trophy in order to make an appearance at Fashion Week.

“I never think about my brand. I want to do well for myself and my sponsors…but I feel no pressure, because I don’t play for the money…I will do a chocolate deal for product only. No need for money,” Wozniacki told the Wall Street Journal.

She can afford to be choosy, however. As one of the fastest rising stars in the competitive tennis world, Wozniacki is currently having a hot season despite a loss in Tokyo over the weekend. Her opponent, Ana Ivanovic, called her a “great offensive player”.

“The key for me was coming forward to the net. She is a great offensive player and gets a lot of balls back so it was important for me to come forward and play well at the net,” Ivanovic said.

Wozniacki later took to Twitter to thank her fans for their support.

Wozniacki battled her way through a very public breakup with golf star Rory McIlroy earlier this year, with McIlroy calling off their engagement not long before the wedding date. He gave a statement at a press conference after the news broke, saying it was the last time he would discuss the breakup publicly.

“There is no right way to end a relationship that has been so important to two people. The problem is mine. The wedding invitations issued at the weekend made me realize that I wasn’t ready for all that marriage entails. I wish Caroline all the happiness she deserves and thank her for the great times we’ve had. I will not be saying anything more about our relationship in any setting,” he said.
