  • Candace Cameron Bure has never been shy about expressing her devout Christian beliefs. Her brother, Growing Pains star Kirk Cameron, is an evangelist, after all. One would expect it wouldn’t be easy to be a Christian in Hollywood, but Candace Cameron Bure says it’s not hard.

“It’s not [difficult] for me. It’s just who I am and I’m just being myself and we all have different viewpoints and different opinions in life. I think that’s what makes the world go round,”she says.

“So I appreciate all those good conversations,” she adds.

Candace Cameron Bure and Raven Symone entered into one such good conversation recently on The View. She felt the Oregon bakery owners who refused to bake a cake for a lesbian couple who planned to marry wasn’t discrimination. Raven Symone believed it was.

“The Oregon law bars businesses from discriminating against sexual orientation, race, disability, age or religion,” Symoné argued, “and to me, it’s the same exact thing that they did back in the day saying that black people couldn’t do certain things because it’s my ‘religious belief.'”

“No,” Cameron Buré interjected, holding up her hand to seemingly brush away Symoné’s remarks. “I think you are comparing apples to oranges here. I don’t think this is discrimination at all, this is about freedom of association, it’s about constitutional rights, it’s about First Amendment rights. We do still have the right to choose who we associate with—but they did not refuse to bake cakes.”

“It’s in the constitution,” Candace continued. “They didn’t refuse to bake the cake because of their sexual orientation, they baked a cake for them previously. They had a problem with the actual ceremony because that, the ceremony, is what conflicted with their religious beliefs.”

Candace Cameron Bure is busy promoting her latest book, Dancing Through Life: Steps of Courage and Conviction. She has taken a break from co-hosting on The View, and is busy filming Fuller House–the Full House reboot.

It’s abundantly clear that Candace Cameron Bure has no problem whatsoever expressing her Christian faith in Hollywood.

How do you think Hollywood feels about her and her fundamental beliefs?
