Groupon is aggressively expanding into countries all over the world, and that does certainly help to make it a force in the space.

I’m don’t think Groupon can own the deal space, but perhaps the web is a really good example as to how people can enjoy discovery shopping without buying a coupon book in advance.

    • Chris Crum

The web is certainly great for that. Frankly it was before the rise of Groupon.

  3. I don’t think Groupon will ever completely own the daily deal or group buying space simply because there are so many other sites out there for people to use. They are very successful as well, and consumers aren’t going to want to use just one site.

If you are a consumer looking to save, try http://www.dailydealpool.com. They’ll email you daily with the best buys from all the daily deal sites out there. This means you won’t miss out on a great buy!

    • Chris Crum

I think daily deal aggregation tools are going to rise to prominence.

      • Dido! about dailydealpool.com. Aggregators are one step ahead and offer multiple offers from multiple coupon companies. Whats the point of just using groupon when you can have all of them.

But pretty soon all these coupon sites will be spam and annoying and eventually there will have to be another formal ad place, besides email.

I give it two years before these email coupon sites disappear.

I think it is good to see group on grouping up with different business giants like it have grouped up with virgin airlines, Starbucks, Tencent etc because personally I really like the deals of groupon and I am a discount hunter that is why I really like groupon and I am a regular costumer of http://grouponbot.com. I have heard that groupon is starting its services worldwide??? Well if it happens it will really gonna rock

  5. We’ve ran some Groupon’s for a few select clients with excellent results. I’m excited to learn about and further investigate GoodTwo for a few of our non-profit clients now.

  6. There are endless companies, coming & going all the time. No one company can cover them all. Also, some companies will not run some industries while others will, that leaves it an open market.

    • Chris Crum

Distribution of deals is key. Aggregation sites should become more valuable to consumers.

  7. It really depends on if the company can stay in front of the market. There will be many, many competitors biting at their heals – thus, can they hold them off while staying ahead of the innovation curve. If they continue to provide what customers/users want – then they can. But, if they falter and a competitor better satisfies the customers – then no.

    • Chris Crum

I think it’s going to be particularly interesting to see how Google and Facebook expand their offerings in this space.

  8. Why not? There is lot of space and if you go to datas, Groupon has beautiful records in web and in Alexa.

    I am positive.

I don’t think Groupon will dominate the market as more and more competitors come into the lucrative Deal space market. I have had contact with the business and an age old complaint comes to lite over and over again, Rapid expansion leads to poor choices in Representatives and lack luster customer service. The Company hires Rep’s to promote and work the business community that they are not qualified to deal with..

This has led to negative views of the handling of the Business relationships needed to completely win over this market. To name some of the Views and complaints; No follow up, failure to provide full and accurate disclosure on how or when it will run your Groupon, Inability to get crucial info provided by the business, that is important to the Deal , on the Ad even though they assure it will be. General Ill qualified rep’s with limited verbal skills. (some real clueless rep’s!) this is in the Ocala, Fl. area and may not effect all areas serviced but its a thumbs down from some of the businesses that have used them here.

So by no means do they have the Market cornered. Plenty of areas a more customer oriented company’s can come in with and dominate

  11. I have to say that i am absolutley amazed that any of the deals sites grows well at all. To me it just seems like the coupons on the back of shopping dockets that I glance at and think Meh. I am astounded that putting it online makes it more interesting. Having said that there seems to be plenty of evidence that it works for the deal company I would like to hear a bit more from the shops using this method of advertising how it compares with other mediums.

Have you guys heard of the new Groupon like site?

It’s the same thing as Groupon except when someone signs up through your referral link, if they or anyone they sign up ever buys a “groupon” coupon from this site (which you get in a daily e-mail), you earn 5% of the coupon purchase price!

Also, if you sign up a business and they ever offer a coupon, you get 2% of all of their sales on the coupon! (plus the normal 5%)

    Check it out:
