For $68 million in cash and stock, Linksys, a subsidiary of Cisco Systems, acquired VoIP specialist Sipura Technology.
A leading wireless network supplier for homes and small businesses, Lyksis will use the buyout to maneuver into the red hot VoIP market.
The move would also increase capacity in research and development by adding Sipura's expertise in broadband adapters that allow telephone calls to be made over Internet connections.
Subject to regulatory and shareholder approvals, the acquisition will close in June.
