It’s official and it’s been confirmed! The legendary “Price is Right” host will be making his way back to the nation’s favorite game show. While his visit is only be temporary, it’ll definitely be a defining moment in game show television history. The iconic episode is scheduled to air on Dec. 12 in honor of Barker’s 90th birthday.

The show also took to Twitter to share details on all of the events that will take place to commemorate Barker’s big birthday week. Pet adoptions will be a big part of the charitable donations that will take place throughout the week.
According to CBS, the decision to offer pet adoptions is one that will hold a great significance to the former game show host, as the cause is ‘dear to Barker’s heart.’ He is an advocate for animal rights, and was named as a spokesperson for “Be Kind to Animals Week” in May 1985. Barker also founded his own charitable foundation, DJ&T in 1994.
The organization contributed millions of dollars to fund animal neutering programs, animal rescue and park facilities all over the country. Barker has also donated to other animal rights’ organizations such as PETA, the American Humane Association and United Activists for Animal Rights. So, in Barker’s honor the show will feature televised pet adoptions the full week of Dec. 9 – Dec. 13. On Thursday of that week, Barker will surprise the studio audience making his appearance. He is also scheduled to present a special birthday showcase.
Bob Barker hosted “The Price is Right” from the time the show was revamped, airing Sept. 4, 1972 up until his retirement from daytime television on June 15, 2007. Barker is noted as one television’s most notable television figures, setting the longevity record for holding a weekday TV job for 51 years straight.
