Bloggers are expressing their anger today after it was revealed that China decided at the Olympic opening ceremony to have a cute little girl lip-synching for the real singer who had crooked teeth.

Lin Miaoke and Yang Peiyi

Nine-year-old Lin Miaoke received praise for her cute performance but organizers came clean today admitting that she was a stand-in for the real singer Yang Peiyi.

One blogger wrote,"There is nothing wrong with the singer’s looks! They are both beautiful little girls. Maybe they should have just killed the girl singer after she made the recording to keep the story hidden in true oppressive government fashion."

The organizers also admitted that some of the fireworks broadcast on television during the opening ceremony were computer generated.

Wang Wei, Beijing Organizing Committee for the Olympic Games (BOCOG) vice-president and spokesman acknowledged that the fireworks might not have been live.

"On the day of the ceremony there were actual footprint fireworks from the south to the north of the city," Wang said. "However, because of poor visibility on the night, some previously recorded footage may have been used."

Another blogger took aim at the hypocrisy of Beijing. "Eager to put on a perfect Olympics, Beijing has swept its streets of fake designer handbags, pirated DVDs and phony corporate logos. That dedication to authenticity apparently does not extend to Olympics ceremonies."

I use to worry about China overtaking the West based on their accumulated wisdom; now I see that their society and leaders are reflecting the West’s worst values back at us.  Their success will be beating us to the bottom of the barrel.

I know that the Chinese girls did well but there were many girls that also performed well, yet they may have done skils with the same degree of difficulty as these girls, with less balance checks, baubs and they recieved a lower score.  It seemed as if the judges were afraid to jusdge.  I am glad that the 2 American girls won gold and silver, inspite of the difficulties.  Some of the other countries also had girls that were outstanding but the scores did not reflect that.  I have lost all respect for the FIG and the International Olympics Committee.  You could clearly tell, from newspaper articles regarding previous competitions and just by the facial structure and body tone that some of these girls were way too young.  I bet you that if this were any other country trying this these girls would not have been in this competive environment.

From 8 years old to 18 years old? Anyway no concrete proof, we’d just have to accept the age on the passport.
