Blogger Goes On The Blink

Earlier this week, Twitter suffered an outage, and we weren’t too kind about the whole thing.  Fair’s fair, though, and it’s now our duty to report that when Blogger went down yesterday, Twitter may have played an instrumental part in getting it back up.

There’s not necessarily a direct cause and effect relationship; the Blogger outage, which only affected some users and lasted for about three hours, probably wouldn’t have gone on for days if Twitter didn’t exist.

Still, MG Siegler, whose ParisLemon site is hosted by Blogger, states, "I wrote a tweet a couple of hours ago to let people know Blogger was down but I could not write about it for obvious reasons, and Duncan Riley of TechCrunch picked it up, wrote a post, and within 30 minutes everything was fixed.  Nice teamwork."

And indeed, even if Googlers were already all over the problem, calling attention to it couldn’t have hurt anything.  So we’ll give a solid "good work" to Twitter (and Siegler and Riley), although it may be necessary to point out that Siegler and Riley could easily have used some other method of communication.
