Now that it’s been confirmed that Beyonce lip-synched her flawless performance of the national anthem at yesterday’s presidential inauguration, we can all just crawl up into a hole and cry ourselves to a sweaty, nightmare-laden sleep.

Ok, it’s probably not the worst thing to happen. But I’m getting the feeling that people are feeling pretty betrayed by the superstar. Why am I getting this feeling? Twitter, of course.

Here’s why it’s pretty much confirmed: The NY Post grabbed this quote from a representative of the U.S. Marine Band:

“All music is pre-recorded for the ceremony because there are so many eventualities and conditions that day. We performed, live, the band. But we received last-minute word that Beyonce was going to use the pre-recorded vocal track. Those were the instructions we were given. We don’t know what the (sic) reason why.”

To crush us. That’s why.

Here are some of the best Twitter reactions about the lip-synching fiasco:

And if you want to relive the lie, here it is:

I WOULD RATHER WATCH/HEAR A WEAKER PERFORMANCE LIVE (ADDS THE HUMAN TOUCH AND SHOWS THAT WE {ALL OF US AVERAGE PERSONS} ARE NOT SO DIFFERENT), THAN WATCH/HEAR A DOCTORED PERFORMANCE THAT SETS THE TRYING INDIVIDUAL ONTO THE ELEVATED PLATFORM THEY THINK THEY’RE ON.
WHAT HAPPENED TO “KEEPEN’ IT REAL”?!?

      I thought everything was right.

So what!..it was still her voice and it was ‘BEAUTIFUL’!!..this was not a concert and was important enough for her to make sure it was ‘Flawless’!..better than those who screw it up and don’t seem to care!..loved it anyway!

    • Brenda

I agree 100% with your statement! people need to get a life. There are so many more important issues going in in the world. T he song was beautiful and it was her voice, recorded or live! It was still Beyonce.

This isn’t someone who can’t sing trying to make people believe she can. We all know she can sing. She’s proven it in every way imaginable, on every platform imaginable (including the last Presidential Inauguration). If she chooses to sing to HER OWN VOICE on a PRECORDED track without studio effects (because as they said, the band was live) then who cares? Singers can have numerous reasons as to why they need to use a pre-recorded track. If she did not and wound up having issues with slapback or anything else, people would have attacked her for “messing up” part of the inaugural bash. It’s really and truly not that serious. Those who want to find issue with this are just those who itch for a reason to dislike her. What bothers me is why any official would feel the need to broadcast this fact and pretty much immediately after the inauguration. Can you say “unprofessional”?

He won the election now get some work done to hell with the inauguration I did not watch it. I voted for Obama and donated, the inauguration is just a waste of money. I had no interest to watch singers from the pop world sing. I thought that was cheesy, and too black, lets get congress working Mr. Pres. put your boxing gloves on and start punching the GOP to stop saying NO.
