Berkshire Hathaway Becomes Significant Anheuser-Busch Shareholder

    April 21, 2005

Anheuser-Busch has recently learned that Berkshire Hathaway has become a significant shareholder, based on information available to the company.

It was not revealed how many shares of Anheuser-Busch were purchased by Berkshire Hathaway.

According to a Reuters article,

“The Securities and Exchange commission requires companies to report within 10 days if they have taken a stake of at least 5 percent in another company.

Berkshire has not made any filings with the SEC regarding Anheuser-Busch.

Berkshire’s 2004 annual report did not list Anheuser-Busch as a company in which it has a stake of at least $600 million.”

At yesterday’s closing price for Anheuser-Busch shares, a 5% stake would have cost nearly $1.8 billion
