Ben Stiller thanked Vogue editor Anna Wintour for helping make Zoolander 2 happen, at the film's premiere on Tuesday.

“The first time around, we didn’t have the fashion world really aware of what we were doing,” Ben Stiller told the crowd--many of whom were from the fashion world--at the event.

“And Anna Wintour did put Derek Zoolander in Vogue, which was an amazing thing for Derek,” he joked. “And then, this time around, [she] was a huge part of making the movie happen, an incredible partner and supporter of the process of making the movie.”

It was Anna Wintour who coordinated Tuesday's red carpet event ahead of the premiere. She enlisted models including Kendall Jenner and Gigi Hadid, as well as celebrities including Jennifer Aniston and hubby Justin Theroux (Theroux co-wrote the Zoolander sequel). Justin Bieber was on the invitation list, but had to rehearse for the upcoming Grammy Awards instead.

Ben Stiller went on to praise Paramount CEO Brad Grey.

“It’s very easy to make a sequel to, like,Transformers,” Stiller said. “But it really takes real cojones to make a sequel to a movie that grossed so little money.”

The first Zoolander film was a box office flop.

Before heading in to the film's premiere, Ben Stiller addressed his two kids.

“I just want you to know no matter what you see up there, I am still your father," he said.

Are you surprised to learn that a comedy like Zoolander 2 has the support of someone like Anna Wintour?

Will you be checking out Ben Stiller, Owen Wilson, Penelope Cruz, and more when Zoolander 2 hits theaters nationwide this weekend?
