"Duck Dynasty" has been a huge breakout hit for A&E as the Robertson brothers charm viewers, and now the show is about to add another from the clan: Alan, the only one of the brothers who doesn't have a huge beard.
Alan, who has been a pastor for the past 22 years at Whites Ferry Road Church of Christ in West Monroe, Louisiana, says he was hesitant at first about joining the phenomenon due to privacy concerns; after seeing what his family has gone through in recent months with their newfound fame, he says he's had to be overly cautious regarding his children and grandchildren.
“My children are grown, but all of my brothers’ children are teenagers now, so how is this crazy world going to impact them?” Alan told the New York Post. “We think about John Luke and Sadie, who are such a big part of the show and they’re teenagers, you know? They need to be just normal teenagers. We pray about that.”
Alan says he and his wife, Lisa, prayed with his congregation about whether or not to join the cast and ultimately decided to go through with it, if for no other reason than to gain a wider audience to minister to.
“Any person that’s an evangelist, that’s what you want to do, so I had to give this up for something possibly bigger," he said.
