According to a rumor posted on Battlefieldo.com, the sometimes maligned, sometimes awesome Battlefield series might be getting their very own premium service ala "Call of Duty Elite."
So it very much seems as though we will get an option, probably $50-$60 dollars, to buy this elite service. What exactly it will get us is unknown, but I'll speculate that it will be full content released 1 week earlier, and for the price all DLC is included. Just like "Call of Duty Elite." This rumor is not 100% as all rumors are just speculation, but Battlefieldo says that it is from a very reliable source.
"Battlefield Premium will land you a number of content drops with unique in-game items not available anywhere else. First out is the one-of-a-kind Premium knife and black dog tag, plus a set of soldier camos, weapon camos, dog tags and Assignments that will make sure you stand out and get more personalization options."
They believe the service is going to be introduced at Electronic Arts' (EA) Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) in June.
Along with this new premium service they will also give a hard date for the new "Close Quarters" expansion pack of June 12th, 2012, and the reveal of some other new things including an as of yet to be discussed mystery content to be launched in March of 2013.
“We make sure that if you’re a Battlefield player, there should be plenty of Battlefield for you to spend your days on,” said Intrim DICE CEO Patrick Bach in a recent interview by VG247.com. “And again, we are focusing on giving you 12-18 months of value for Battlefield 3 and the expansion packs we’re releasing.”
This to me is one of the best part about EA leaving Battlefield in the hands of DICE, they aren't pressured to make a new game every year so they will support the game with DLC and patches for 18 months after the game comes out. At least EA isn't screwing this one up......for now.
