Twenty-eight-year-old Katy Perry shared details about a previous interview that she gave veteran television personality, Barbara Walters. According to Billboard magazine, Katy Perry had scheduled the interview, but it took place during a difficult and vulnerable time for the singer.

Barbara Walters apparently was not too happy with the “Roar” songstress for arriving after her scheduled time, and had no qualms about telling Katy so. Though this was a bleak time for Katy Perry, she did not explain the difficulties surrounding her life at the time to Barbara.

“I shouldn’t have done the interview: I was playing Madison Square Garden that same night, and I knew that the end of my marriage was coming. I was just exhausted and stressed. I’d prepped everyone that I was running late, but Barbara showed up at the original time anyway,” Katy Perry recently retold the story.

Barbara Walters reaction to Katy Perry’s late arrival was one of obvious displeasure. “When I got there, I apologized immediately, but then she said to me, ‘You know, I’ve only ever waited for one other person this long, and you know who that person was? Judy Garland. You know how she turned out, right?’ I was like, ‘Oh, snap! Yes, bitch!’ I think it’s the coolest thing that Barbara Walters shaded me. I just couldn’t tell her as we were sitting down for a mega-interview, ‘Hey, my marriage is falling apart. Give me a break,'” Katy Perry said.

Katy is currently dating John Mayer; however, she was married to British actor Russell Brand around the time of her interview with Barbara Walters. Though it is unclear exactly what day the interview happened, it is unlikely that Barbara held any lingering negativity towards Katy Perry as Katy was chosen as one of Barbara’s “Top 10 Most Fascinating People of 2011” in December of 2011.

I love ya Barbara, but your reported reaction to having to wait for someone who is late to your interview, would imply that you see yourself (or at least your time) as more important than your celebrity guest!! Remember, we never know what someone else may be dealing with – be kind!!

in all fairness to katy, she did leave a message that she was running late, but someone failed to give barbara the news. i do believe that katy could have told barbara to go easy on her as she was having a difficult time. it wouldn’t have hurt, and barbara would have made the decision.

Barbara Walters is a terrible person and Katie should have cancelled the interview. She really think that she is the most important person in the world! She is a B_ _ _ _ !!!!

KATY should grow up ! no one is BORN to make time to wait for her. She is arrogant and immature. She should feel bad of causing a waste of time for everyone because this event is planned for months, if last minute late then sHE OWED PEOPLE APOLOGY and CONSEQUENCES. Don’t complaint ! That’s the way it is : SELF RESPECT ! Barbara is right and kudo on her for straigten KATY ! Instead of be quiet and admitting her fault, it is a shame for KATY to complaint about this !!

Barbra Walters is the reason I don’t watch the View. I catch the first 5 minutes, if she isn’t on for the day, I watch. If she is, I turn the channel immediately. She isn’t all that, even if she thinks so.

Who the “H” does the OLD HAG think she is. Maybe she was important in the days God was a child but she is a nobody that is getting fired on The View.

    How Rude!

  • http://yahoo Robin

Barbara has been rude since Jesus was born. I can’t stand her. She gets aways with this rudeness because she slept her way to the top.

    • Petal

Barbara Walters is far from rude. Her manners are impeccable, and manners don’t preclude one from speaking one’s mind. She did not sleep her way to the top, Robin – now THAT was rude.

Another example of the “ME” generation. It’s all about ME. If Perry is supposed to be a professional, she should act like one, bad marriage or not. I wonder how many times in 60 years of show business Barbara has “gone on with the show” when things in her life weren’t a bed of roses? Grow up.

  • Elizabeth

So what’s new? Barbara is always rude…..this happened in 2011, so what’s the need of bringing this up now?

    • diana

Slow news day? They have been running this story for almost a week now. Ridiculous!

  • julienne

Katy Perry should grow up. She should not complaint whatsoever ! She is late and she is late ! Katy should not act like an ARROGANT celebrity. Not everyone has to arrange months ahead to have interview with her then HAD TO POSTPONE AND WAIT for her to come on her desire time. She should know that it IS HER FAULT FIRST PLACE and NO ONE is obligated to be sympathy for her tardiness. EVEN IF IN DR OR DENTIST office if you are late, NO EXCUSE, you lost the spot and MAY BE CHARGED for your tardiness and cause trouble for other people business. KATY , HAVE A SELF OF RESPECT ! No body is BORN TO MAKE TIME FOR YOU ! Barbara is right ! All what she need to do is TO FEEL BAD ABOUT MAKING EVERYONE WASTE THEIR TIME FOR HER and BE REGRETTABLE. NO WONDER her ex-husband divorced her ! KATY IS IGNORANT and IMMATURE !! Same is to those who praise Katy in this blog. NEED TO GROW UP cuz it’s time !

Be KIND??? Oh Here we go! That’s what’s wrong with the world today. People make deals and don’t deliver, but how DARE you OFFEND them, you’d BETTER be KIND, and NOT bring up the point. Katy is the one who should have been KIND, and been on time. That being kind thing, works both ways. Live and Learn! Katy said it best, she should NOT have done the interview.

Katy Perry needs to get real. Most people in life are going through some trial in life. Yet, in the midst of our problems, we have to keep going. That includes being on time, whether it be work, doctors appointment, etc. A person’s employer could care less about what’s going on in your life. They want you at work on time and ready to work. They want you to check your attitude, emotions and all your baggage at the door. Even though I sympathize with Katy, I know it’s not a good excuse to be late for something that was probably schedule months before. Everyone feels like their time is just as important than yours. So Katy, take yourself off your pedestal and treat people the way you want to be treated. As for Barbara Walters, I’ve always wondered how she made as far as she has in her career. I find her to be extremely DRY AND BORING, whether she’s doing interviews or on “The View” chatting.

Poor Katy, always the victim. Everyone is mean to her, first her husband and now Barbara. How does she find the strength to live? Such a drama queen, honestly! I don’t feel sorry for people that are career victims ….. there are too many REAL victims in the world to bother with whiners. She was late for an important interview with Barbara and don’t get me started with the marital issues.
