OK, so tonight Bill Gates and Steve Ballmer showed off a tiny piece of Windows 7: that multi-touch capabilities will be built into the OS. Tons of info on this over on TechMeme. Of course, viewers here last week had a lengthy discussion and demo with the guy who invented these features inside Microsoft Research.
Our network at FastCompany.tv continues to grow, this time into a show about how our work is changing thanks to the Internet called WorkFast.tv. It’s my way of trying to help you all be more productive after sending you so many Twitter messages that waste your time.
My ex-boss, John Furrier, goes after Facebook after Facebook blocked Google’s Friend Connect from using its API to inport friends from Facebook into Google’s Friend Connect.
If you aren’t a blogger you probably haven’t noticed this company named Disqus unless you really are paying attention when you leave a comment. But head over to Dave Winer’s blog, click on the comments, and if you leave a comment there, like I just did, you aren’t actually leaving it on Dave Winer’s blog. You’re using Disqus’s commenting service. “So what?” you’re probably asking. Well, there’s a few things that Disqus does.
BBC: Twitter and the China earthquake. I reported the major quake to my followers on Twitter before the USGS Website had a report up and about an hour before CNN or major press started talking about it. I’ve stayed out of the Microsoft attempted merger of Yahoo so far. But EVERYONE seems to be talking about it from all sorts of angles. Me? I take the user’s point of view and that’s one I haven’t seen discussed much yet. Will Yahoo moving to Microsoft be a good thing for users? Let’s take a tour.

This dude has the coolest job in the world. He’s the audio engineer at Austin City Limits and has been for decades. Anyone have a cooler job? It’s my goal to meet all the people in the world with cool jobs. I figure that’ll keep me busy for at least a few months. :-) One way you know that they have a cool job? They don’t leave.Comments
Twitter: grabbing defeat from the jaws of success Amazing, Twitter has been half down all weekend long. Dave Winer and others have been writing about it. The problems have been covered on TechMeme and other places where one looks for interesting tech news.
Four weeks ago I had 5,250 emails in my inbox. Today? 10. What’s the difference? I’ve been on lots of airplanes in the past month. Why is that important? Because in airplanes there’s no Internet. Nothing to distract you. I find I can answer about 10x more email in a plane than I can on the ground when the Internet is there to distract me. That taught me an important lesson.
