As this past year at Yahoo! has been my first year working for what I’d consider to be a large company, I’ve become more interested in strategies around running and operating companies efficiently. My past experiences have been with startups or small companies where a lot of the challenges that larger companies face don’t exist.
Yesterday was a bit crazy. A lot of news hit, and most of it I can’t really say much about. Just a little rundown though:

Scott Karp kicked off the new year with a good post called Five Guiding Principles For The Transformation Of Media Companies. It’s a good post that needs to be read by every executive at major media companies today, and in many ways a lot of it seems like common sense to those who have been watching the transformation occur and understand what’s going on. It was only a matter of time, because it’s seemed obvious to many that a good video advertising solution would be for an automated system to match video content to commercial style video ads. blinkx has announced their solution called AdHoc (honestly, must every advertising solution be “Ad-something”?) that does this.
Matt has announced that Wordpress has released a stats plugin for self-hosted Wordpress uses that integrates your blog analytics into your dashboard.
Web analytics vendor Clicky announced on their blog today that they have integrated Feedburner RSS stats for your site into the Clicky interface.
