Once again I used my wacky test marketing strategy to announce a new project and once again it worked - but on this occasion I had another motive about which I will tell you more in a moment.
In a previous article I recounted engaging in a wacky piece of test marketing - and now I'd like to provide you with a progress report.
Crazy notion perhaps but I've forged ahead and done it anyway: slung up a temporary site with a sales pitch for a product which I have yet to create - and cheekily signed off with a visitor survey request.
When my first book "Starting Your Own Business" was published way back in 1995, I thought that was it. I reckoned I'd never write another one. But I was wrong. It has enjoyed many reprints, multiple editions, and proceeded over the years to generate another seven disparate titles from the same topic.
Fact: Only 5% of People Who Start a Business Make it into Year 6.

Review in depth the intelligence you have accumulated over the years and you will have no problem in identifying where your primary source of expertise lies. However, before cementing your choice of a topic it will be necessary to run the data through several tests to confirm its suitability as the subject matter for your first how-to book.
As you set out to create your first niche non-fiction book, you will be supported by a strong motivation to keep focused on the essential business at hand i.e. to complete the project and achieve publication.
This is a core objective and it's where your work begins in earnest.
