Monster To Power Yahoo Job Listings In Latin America

 Yahoo said today it has partnered with Monster on a deal under which the career site will provide job listings in Latin American markets.

Monster will become Yahoo’s provider of career and job content in Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Mexico and Peru. Monster says the partnership will give it access to almost 55 million new Internet users in Latin America. Terms of the deal were not released.

Amazon Releases Windows Phone 7 App

Amazon has introduced a new free mobile shopping app for Windows Phone 7.

Amazon says the app is specifically designed for Windows Phone 7 and displays all of a product’s details in a single view, allowing users to scroll horizontally to search and buy without have to load new screens or leave the app.

Amazon To Launch Kindle App For HP TouchPad

Amazon said today it is launching a free Kindle app for the new HP TouchPad coming out this summer.

Amazon said its Kindle app for the TouchPad will gives users access to more than 810,000 titles from its Kindle store.

Visa Buys Online Payment Platform For $190 Million

Visa said today it is buying online payment platform PlaySpan for $190 million in cash, “plus additional consideration for performance milestones.”

Visa Visa said the acquisition complements its further expansion into digital and mobile commerce.  The deal follows Visa’s purchase of another online payment company, CyberSource in July.

Ford Launches Explorer Road Trip Contest On Facebook

Ford has launched a social media campaign on Facebook to promote its new Explorer.

The campaign called “Go. Do. Adventures,” asks people what they would do and where they would go if they had a new Ford Explorer for a week.

Gates Foundation Invests In Facebook App For Education

The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation announced today it has invested $2 million in education technology company Inigral, to help fund its Schools App on Facebook.

The Schools App uses Facebook to create a virtual community for colleges students during the admissions and orientation process and through their first year. The Schools App aims to increase involvement and engagement among college students to increase the likelihood of graduation.

Majority Of People Have Abandoned Brands On Facebook And Twitter

The majority (91%) of consumers have abandoned at lest one brand on Facebook, email or Twitter because of irrelevant or boring marketing messages, according to a new study by ExactTarget and CoTweet.

“Consumers remain willing to engage with marketers via the inbox, Facebook and Twitter,” said Jeff Rohrs, principal of ExactTarget’s Marketing Research and Education Group.

AutoTrader.com said today it has launched Connections Bundle, which integrates social media, chat, and dealer ratings into the site to create more ways for people to connect with dealers online.

The chat feature alerts people when a dealer is available with a link appearing on the vehicle listing that prompts the user to start a chat session.

Startup Splash Networks has released a Facebook application that predicts college admissions for high school students.

The app called AdmissionSplash, asks users to create a list of colleges, enter their academic  and demographic information, and get results based on a proprietary formula. People can share the information with their friends or keep it private.

 

 

Google Brings Priority Inbox To Gmail For Mobile

Aircell Raises $35 Million For Inflight Wi-Fi

Aircell, the company that provides Gogo inflight Internet service, said today it has raised $35 million in financing with its existing investors.

Michael-Small Aircell offers Gogo on nine of the 11 major U.S. airlines and on nearly 6,000 business aircraft. The financing will be used to fund growth in both commercial and business aviation markets.

Online Retail Spending Tops Record $40 Billion

U.S. online retail spending reached a record $43.4 billion in the fourth quarter of 2010, an increase of 11 percent over a year ago, according to a new report from comScore.

This growth rate is the fifth consecutive quarter of positive year-over-year growth and second quarter of double-digit growth rates in the past year.

Zillow will also sell local advertising on both sites, and the 4 million listings on Zillow will appear on Yahoo Real Estate.

U.S. Seizes Sports Websites Ahead Of The Super Bowl

U.S. prosecutors have seized 10 websites that illegally streamed live sporting broadcasts and pay-per-view content over the Internet.

Recipe Search Engine Goes Social With Facebook

Foodily, a search engine for comparing recipes, said today it wants to make cooking more social via an integration with Facebook.

Recipes “liked” on Foodily will appear in a users’ Facebook feed, and recipes that others like will appear in a Foodily recipe search.

Goodwill Launches Job Training Campaign On eBay

The Goodwill said today it is launching a fundraising campaign on eBay to help people find and keep jobs.

In partnership with eBay Giving Works, eBay’s charity fundraising program, from February 7 to 13, Goodwill will be a featured nonprofit on eBay, offering people the opportunity to buy, sell or donate to support Goodwill’s job training programs. Dress for Success and the National Federation of the Blind will also be featured in February as part of the same campaign.

 

Verizon Taking Pre-Orders For iPhone 4

Apple said today it will be taking pre-orders for its iPhone 4 on Verizon beginning at 3 a.m. EST on February 3.

Verizon said it has set aside a limited quantity of iPhone smartphones for existing  customers and orders will be shipped to arrive on February 10.
