Have You Captured Me Today?

There are many Web sites I visit every day and will probably never return to again. It’s not that I didn’t like the site, or that I wasn’t interested in the topic, services, or products offered. It’s just that I wasn’t ready to take action right now. So I clicked away and will probably forget about them.

How to Get E-zine Subscribers From In-Person Events

While I run my business completely online, I really enjoy attending in-person events and seminars here in Los Angeles and around the country. I’m sure you find these events valuable too. The problem most of us have with networking, however, is following up with the people we meet.

Why Are You Doing Everything Yourself?

When I coach my entrepreneur clients, one problem I often see is that they’re not taking enough time to market and grow their business. It’s not that they don’t understand the value of those efforts, or they don’t want to make the time. It’s that they’re simply trying to do too much by themselves. They’re so busy running their business that they’re not working ON their business.

20 Words that Catch in Spam Filters

Spam, spam, spam. It’s terrible not only for those of us on the receiving end, but for those of us who SEND e-mail.

5 Ways to Make More Money With Your E-zine

Have you been publishing an e-mail newsletter for at least six months but still aren’t seeing real results (read: revenue) from it? Don’t fret — you may just need a tune up. Here are five ways to kick your e-zine income into gear this year:

Who is your EZINE Really From?

One morning this past fall, I was going through my e-mail inbox, relentlessly deleting junk mail. As you’re likely well aware, many spam messages are made to look like they’re from a real person. One name briefly caught my eye: “Jeff Bezos.” But because I was in furious deletion mode, I didn’t recognize it. Also, it had a salesy subject line: “New Apparel Store Now Open.” So I hit the delete key. A few minutes later, it occurred to me that I knew that name — Jeff Bezos is the CEO of Amazon.com. I rescued the message from my delete folder and opened it. Turns out it was an announcement to all Amazon Associates (affiliates) about the opening of Amazon’s new online apparel store.

Avoiding the Spam Trap

Spam has not only become troublesome because we all receive too much of it, but it’s now a problem for legitimate e-zine publishers such as you and me. This is because the spam overload has driven many companies and individuals to use “anti-spam” software to help screen out the junk. Unfortunately many of these programs filter out our opt-in publications as well.

Let’s first look at what common filtering tools are out there:

7 Formulas for Writing Articles That Get Read!

Many of us have been asked to write an article at one time or another. Maybe it’s a contribution to the company newsletter. Or a promotional article to gain publicity for ourselves or our companies. Some of us write articles regularly for clients.
