AT&T has launched a new social networking app, which combines access to Facebook, Twitter, MySpace, and customizable news feeds. It’s called the AT&T Social Net App, and it’s available as a free download.

"Five of the top 10 searches on our mobile Web portal are for social networking sites, a clear indication of the growing popularity of mobile social networking," says VP of voice and data products, AT&T Mobility and Consumer Markets. Mark Collins. "With this app, we’re satisfying the increasing demand for aggregation apps that make it easy for customers to be active in multiple communities simultaneously."

AT&T Social Net is currently available on the following devices:

LG CU515
LG Neon (GT365)

AT&T Social NetWith the app, users can view and manage their social communities through a single menu and communicate and track events in real time. The user can populate the app with their info, then users can see and respond to tweets, status updates, wall posts, profile comments, photo activity, etc. Users can also access new or unread articles from customized content feeds.

The app was one of the first to be featured in AT&T’s Apps Beta program. The company relied heavily on user feedback for this release.

"The feedback generated from Apps Beta helped us confirm some hypotheses and prioritize some features before general release," said Mark Jacobstein, CEO of iSkoot, the company that developed the app. "For example, we focused on ensuring seamless operation on touch-screen devices — a huge point of interest with Apps Beta users — and also added server-side content caching to improve app speed and responsiveness."

AT&T Social Net can be downloaded here. It is a free application, but standard messaging rates apply during use of course.

    WTF no Blackberry or iPhone??

Ummm, you shouldn’t probably own either if you don’t realize that there’s a hundred different ways to interact with these same services specific to iPhone and Blackberry. This is obviously an app for dumbphones.

You can easily identify most net idiots because they almost always use WTF in their comments

I am getting a Samsung Impression and I chose Unlimited Data, but no messaging since I don’t text message or IM. Will I need messaging for Live Mail, Twitter, and Facebook. I use these the most.

Nick no offense but I do own a Samsung Eternity for my multimedia device and a Nokia E71 (soon to be E72) for my communications device and let me tell you both will beat an addict on a crackberry anyday.

It has been two months and BP has not stopped the oil leak yet. I have an idea of how to rectify this problem. Since they are spending top dollar. My idea is simple build a steel frame with concrete sides to fit around the well then cover it with a thick concrete slab. Next build a larger steel frame with concrete sides and cover it with another concrete slab. Anchored to the sea floor.

This App is just horrible. First off it never is up to date. Or it takes like 15 minutes for it to actually update itself to current and relevant tweets. And the Facebook app is junk. All in all I don’t recommend this App at all. If you own a Samsung Impression it’s easier to stay up to date using your web browser which is amazing for what it is.
