ASP.NET How Do I Video Series

    March 3, 2006

Microsoft put together a video series called “How Do I.” The purpose behind the series is to help educate developers by answering common questions regarding ASP.NET 2.0.

Brian Goldfarb, lead product manager on the Web Platform and Tools team gives some details on his blog. With a number of videos available for download from MSDN, developers can get a lot of solid information. Some of those videos include:

Caching: This video introduces new caching features of ASP.NET 2.0. Goldfarb say this video is a 2-parter and starts with a demo of Page Output Caching and an overview of the new ASP.NET 2.0 Database Caching support for SQL Server 2000 and SQL Server 2005.

He noted topics include using the aspnet_rgsql.exe utility to add SQL caching support to SQL server database, creating an SQL cache dependency to eliminate unnecessary connections to the database, enabling table-level caching, and enabling enhanced caching support using SQL Server 2005 Change Notifications. Part two of the series includes the new Partial-Page Output Caching feature of ASP.NET 2.0 and an overview of Cache API.

Other videos include “Create a Full-Featured Customer Login Portal”, “Data”, “Localization,” “Master Pages and Site Navigation”, and several other titles. All of them are provided at MSDN to help the developers get a better grasp of ASP.NET
