Yahoo has shared some interesting data about search trends related to Arrested Development. As you probably know, Netflix launched the long-anticipated season 4 of the show last month.

According to the company, searches for “arrested development 2013” spiked 279% in June. Perhaps more interesting, however, is the huge interest in a lesser-known cast member – Mae Whitman. Whitman plays Ann Veal, and searches for her name are spiking by 1733%, Yahoo says.

According to the company, Portia De Rossi, Charlize Theron and Alia Shawkat hold the top three most searched for spots. Theron had a recurring role in season 3. Of the male cast members, the most searches have been for Michael Cera (his character’s FakeBlock app is now available, by the way). His roles in This Is The End and Magic Magic probably helped.

Yahoo says 66% of searches for “Arrested Development” are coming from men (24% from women).

Yahoo didn’t provide info about spikes in searches for a fifth season of Arrested Development, but you can bet that interest is high. Luckily, it sounds like show creator Mitch Hurwitz already has some ideas in mind.
