  • Ariana Grande spoke recently with ET in an effort to clarify something she said regarding the lyrics of her new song ‘Break Your Heart Right Back.’ She is even accusing the media of taking a previous comment she made about the song and turning it into something it simply wasn’t.

“It’s about a boy who cheats on a girl with another boy. That’s a very fun concept. It’s one of my favorites on the album, and it’s really funny because I believe it has happened to me. I’m not 100 percent positive, but I’m 99.9 percent positive,” she said about the lyrics during a prior interview.

She is now a bit defensive when that comment is brought up in conversation.

“People took my quote and made a headline about it — I know what y’all do,” she said to the ET reporter. “They twisted it though … I never said my ex. It wasn’t even an ex really, we were sort of dating for a minute. It wasn’t a big deal.”

Is Ariana Grande backtracking or was her initial statement about ‘Break Your Heart Right Back’ clearly misconstrued?

One thing Ariana Grande won’t take back or defend is the notion that getting cheated with a guy rather than a girl is a far better option.

“It was kind of funny. I wasn’t like, heartbroken over it. I was like, ‘Ok, work,'” she said. “I think it’s less offensive. I think it’s great. I’d be like, ‘Great for you.’ But if it was a girl I’d be like, ‘Ok that kind of sucks,’ you know what I mean? … Either way it’s not cool, but I’d be less upset if it were a guy.”

Less offensive? Ariana, cheating is cheating.

Ariana Grande is definitely coming out on top, however–with her attitude about cheating and with her new song. The album from which this song is featured, ‘My Everything,’ is set to drop on Monday.
