Anne Hathaway is well-known for her singing skills after her star turn in Les Miserables, but for a recent performance she didn't even have to use her voice...just her interpretive dance skills.
The 32-year old star made an appearance on Lip Sync Battle, a spinoff of the ever-popular Tonight Show sketches that Jimmy Fallon has taken into viral territory in recent months, and blew the audience away with her impression of the Miley Cyrus song "Wrecking Ball". As her Devil Wears Prada co-star Emily Blunt looked on from the stage, Hathaway performed a seductive dance in a Cyrus-inspired getup and eventually shed her pants before taking a running leap to jump on top of a swinging wrecking ball across the stage, throwing up her middle finger at Blunt as she did so. The audience went wild for the show, which will air on Spike on Thursday, April 9.
The series, which is hosted by rapper LL Cool J, brings stars together to show off their considerable talents in front of a live audience. Contestants have included John Legend, Anna Kendrick, and The Rock, who has experience with a live audience from his many successful appearances on Saturday Night Live.
The show came about due to Jimmy Fallon's popular sketch on the Tonight Show, in which he battled his guest stars to see who could lip sync the best. Memorable moments came from Paul Rudd and Emma Stone, who famously took on the difficult-to-perform "Hook" by Blues Traveler.
The beauty of the new show is that contestants have the ability to dress up like the person they're imitating and utilize a fully-dressed stage, so the performance is notched up that much higher. Catch Anne Hathaway's full performance on Thursday night at 10 p.m.
