Amy Schumer may not take a lot of things seriously, but one thing she does take seriously is her right to say the word pussy.

Comedy Central once censored the word pussy, the same way it did other curse words, but Amy Schumer felt like she should be allowed to say the word if she wanted to.

Her executive producer also agreed and together they worked to uncensor the word for Amy’s show and other shows on Comedy Central.

Head writer and executive producer Jessi Klein talked about Amy’s fight and even said that getting the word uncensored was actually a pretty big deal for women and comedians alike.

"It was a great moment in U.S. history," said Klein.

According to both Klein and Schumer, executive producer Dan Powell decided that it wasn’t right for the word pussy to be censored, since the network allows the word dick to be used freely.

"Halfway through the first season, we started to realize that a lot of the show was addressing women's issues and gender politics," said Powell.

He then shared the story of how he went to the standards & practices executives and explained the situation. He was then able to convince the network to allow the word.

Amy had hoped to have been able to say the word on her show, but the network decided that they would not censor the word on any of their shows or programs.

She also took advantage of the change on her first episode of the show where the word was not censored.
