Amazon has some more original pilots on the way, and they’re coming from some pretty big names.

First up, Mozart in the Jungle comes to us from writers Roman Coppola (Moonrise Kingdom, The Darjeeling Limited) and actor Jason Schwartzman. Amazon describes it as a show about sex, drugs, and classical music.

“Many shows are in a single world; Mozart in the Jungle is an unusual show in that there are two worlds fused together. On one side is the high-level skill and sophistication that comes with classical music, and at the same time it’s a story that includes people rising up from the bottom, trying to make it in the big world. I love the sense of contrast, the high and the low, the refined and the more base – I hope audiences will love it too,” said Coppola. “Amazon has been incredibly supportive and they have given us their blessing to make this show. We are very much in harmony and we feel lucky to be working with a partner that is so in sync with us and what we want to do.”

The second new pilot is called The Outlaws, and it follows a professional football team – “from the perspective of both the players and the back office.” The Ouitlaws‘ team got former Giant Michael Strahan to come on as part of the creative team.

The final pilot in this round is called Transparent, and it was written and directed by Jill Soloway (Six Feet Under and United States of Tara). It’s being described as a “darkly comedic story about and L.A. family” and stars Jeffery Tambor.

“We are thrilled to be working on these pilots with such talented creators with passionate visions for new shows,” said Roy Price, Director of Amazon Studios. “We are excited to hear what customers think of the shows.”

Each pilot will be 30 minutes long. As always, Amazon Studios’ original pilots will be free to everyone, and use feedback will determine whether or not they get greenlit for an entire series run.

Recently, Amazon announced that they had added Cynthia Nixon, Amy Sedaris, and Wanda Sykes to Alpha House, one of the 5 original series (out of an initial 14 pilots) that Amazon greenlit back in May.
