Aliens: Colonial Marines is a Sequel to the First Three Movies, Shows Trailer

By: Sean Patterson - January 2, 2013

Videogames based on the Aliens universe have been notoriously sub-par in the past. With Aliens: Colonial Marines, Gearbox is attempting to give the franchise a videogame it can finally be proud of.

It remains to be seen whether the gameplay and design of the game will impress players, but it appears the developer has at least provided a relevant story. The new story trailer released over the holidays shows that the game is a direct sequel to the Aliens and Alien 3 movies.

Players will take on the role of marines who are investigating the strange reappearance of the spaceship U.S.S. Sulaco, last seen orbiting the planet Fury 161 in Alien 3.

It is a sequel to the first two 2nd movies, not the first three.

If GearBox was going for something more above parr, I don`t think a forced 3rd pov Alien view is going to do it for them. Hopefully the sp campaign and co op of the sp campaign will carry this game somewhat. I`d be surprised if the majority of PC gamers are not face-palming right about now.
