  • Alanis Morissette, who will perhaps never live down her ’90s reputation as a wild-woman-scorned, says she’s been in talks with “American Idol” producers to possibly judge the upcoming season alongside Mariah Carey.

“Yes, I have been in conversations about it, and that’s the degree to which I can share the info right now,” Morissette said. “I live to mentor, so my heart is much more open to the idea of that than even 10 years ago when I, perhaps, wasn’t in a position to be able to offer much advice, solicited or otherwise. [B]ut I love watching people and just getting really curious about what they want and what they need and what their goals are, and then I can support them. I would do it formally, for sure.”

Alanis is no stranger to reality talent competitions; she guested on the 2010 season of the show in a duet with Crystal Bowersox, and recently acted as a mentor on “The Voice”. But while many are excited about the prospect of her signing on with a full-time role on the show, some are wondering if Mariah would allow another big-name female to share the judge’s table with her.

For the most part, it seems she mostly has supporters, so we’ll see what happens. Also rumored to be in the running are Nicki Minaj and Kanye West.
