  • You might have never heard of thePlatform, but you’ve certainly heard of the A+E Networks family of channels including, of course, A&E but other channels like Lifetime and History. The two companies have teamed up to expand its programming to more people.

In a company blog post, thePlatform announced the partnership that will see A+E Networks leveraging the company’s “video management system” to “consolidate [their] video workflow into one system.” John Cool, VP of Digital Media Technology at A+E Networks says that the partnership will help the network “reach new screens and outlets.”

The company will be using thePlatform’s mpx software to manage their video content. It contains a lot of features that will help A+E Networks expand their presence online. The biggest bonus to the software is that it allows them to easily publish videos to PCs, Macs, smartphones and tablets.

A&E already allows users to watch full episodes of their programming online. By utlizing mpx, it seems that the network will expanding their reach to mobile and beyond. This is nothing but good news for people who want to watch Hoarders or Storage Wars on their lunch break.

A+E Networks will be implementing mpx for BIO, History, A&E and Lifetime for now. The other channels owned by the network will get the support later down the road.

More and more channels are adding the option of online and mobile streaming so A&E is in good company. Before you know it, all your television content will be available for streaming.
