AAFA Launches Online Flu Shot Finder

The Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America (AAFA) has set up an online service called, “Flu Shot Finder,” allowing visitors to enter a zip code into a search bar to find the flu shot nearest their homes.

Powered by Maxim Health Systems, the Flu Shot Finder returns a list of clinic names, dates, times, addresses and phone numbers nearest the entered zip code. The website also provides information and guidelines about influenza from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Why is the AAFA concerned about the flu?

“Flu symptoms make asthma symptoms even worse,” says Chris Ward, AAFA’s president, and a lifelong asthma patient. “When you’ve already got a chronic disease like asthma and you get the flu on top of that, it’s a dangerous mix that could land you in the emergency room.”

The Foundation hopes its Flu Shot Finder Web page will help educate people with asthma about the dangers of the flu, and encourage patients to schedule a vaccination. For more free information about AAFA, asthma, or influenza, visit http://www.aafa.org.
