50 Cent has become one of the most influential names in hip-hop since he rose to stardom with 2003's Get Rich or Die Tryin. He has also gained widespread notoriety as the leader of the East Coast hip-hop group G-Unit. With a name as big as his, people are understandably interested in what he's working on next.
Vibe reports that 50 Cent stopped by HOT97's Morning Show on Tuesday to talk about the new album and his influence on East Coast hip-hop. He also talked about the inner workings of G-Unit and his opinion of other hip-hop artists, like Diddy.
One of the more interesting tidbits to come out of the interview was when 50 Cent was asked about his son and why he kept it a secret. The hip-hop star says that he kept the child a secret because he didn't want the narrative to take off without him. He notes that he doesn't have a relationship with the mother of his child. That alone could make things awkward if the story of his child became a big ticket news item.
50 Cent also addressed some members leaving G-Unit. While he has no plans to add talent to the collective right now, he does say that he's always open to finding new talent for G-Unit. He does provide the caveat of not allowing new members to be on stage with him though. He says that it's not so much about sharing the stage, however, as it is about letting new talent find their own voice.
The full hour-long interview can be seen below in two parts:
